If you’re a hip-hop head who lives in the T.dot/GTA and didn’t know about this, I feel sorry for you. Ghostface, Raekwon, Killer Mike, Action Bronson and local artists Tre Mission and Tasha the Amazon all for FREE at Yonge-Dundas Square this afternoon/evening.
You still have time to make it though as performances don’t start until 4PM this afternoon. Let me just say, I saw Killer Mike last night at Wrongbar and he smashed it to the point that I want to see him again this evening. Catch you down there? If you need additional convincing I’m smdh but that being said, check out this RDIO playlist to get get your mind right or get you in the mood for today’s offering:
Produced by Nomanzlanderz. Looks interesting and relates to a project I am working on currently. Unfortunately was only playing this weekend (for now, at least). Trying to make today’s (Sunday) matinee performance this afternoon.

Yes a cover of the recent pop hit by Fun. (which, if I’m not mistaken, samples the breakdown section of Eric B & Rakim’s “Microphone Fiend”, maybe??). I digs. Kay hates that this is true but I think his core strength was always the fact that he had an ear for pop, crossover anthems. This cover, remake (?), whatever is from the forthcoming mixtape, #WavyFlexinCool.

CAN’T WAIT to get into this. I was pretty psyched to check the video of them doing a version of The Beatles’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” yesterday so to be able to listen to the full live set is a mind-blower. EPIC!!! Thank you, Questlove.

CLICK HERE for more details. Why should you care about this? Band leader, Hill Kourkoutis is part of The Weeknd’s live band that tore it down in his debut show at The Mod Club in Toronto. And yes the CD, whose release is being celebrated this evening does have the exact same name as a spoken word EP by AfraKaRen I posted a few months back here at The Kitchen for you more eagle-eyed readers. Weird….
Dig what you hear though? Then hit the jump for two more tracks and a link to stream the entire album.
Sold on Hill & The Sky Heroes? Stream the entire 11:11 over at Exclaim! now.
Do you remember the first time you saw Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-horror classic, Alien? Do you remember the dark, derelict alien spacecraft on planet LV-426? Do you remember fearing for the rag-tag cast of humans who ventured inside, wondering what they would find? Do you remember the large, fossilized, vaguely humanoid creature sitting in a pilot’s seat in the middle of the ship, its ribs exploded from its chest, and wondering just what in the hell that thing was?
Scott’s latest film, Prometheus, pulls back the curtain on this 33-year old mystery, and what is revealed is truly horrifying: a thoroughly vacuous prequel to the series he kicked off, masquerading as a film about the cosmic origins of humanity.
What was touted as the next genre-defining sci-fi masterpiece is instead a completely unoriginal mash-up of other movies, and the architects of the film seem to think that we are too stupid to notice.
